Sherry Fishman Carroll has been with People’s since 2009 as a Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Department. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities with a teaching certificate at the University of Texas, her BSN, MSN in Nursing Administration, and Family Nurse Practitioner from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Sherry has been working as an FNP since 1996 in a variety of settings, including a family practice in Midland, Texas; a small-town family practice in Depoe Bay, Oregon; with the Community Health Aide Program; and in developing an outpatient Diabetes Clinic in Bethel, Alaska. From there, Sherry worked to develop the Diabetic Hospitalist role at Tucson Medical Center, Arizona. Her pediatric work has been in the NICU, with the Texas and County Health Departments, and as Unit manager of an Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. She will occasionally work with pregnant couples doing Lamaze refreshers. In the time she has been at People’s, she has been privileged to be a part of many changes.
Sherry’s passion is in traveling, and has done volunteer medical work in Dominican Republic and Ecuador, and has also lived in Israel and Zambia, Africa. Additionally, she loves to be outdoors, to jog, practice yoga and meditation, read, do photography, and spend time with her children and grandkids. Serving children and their families brings both professional and personal fulfillment, and living in Austin is the best!
