With the support of People’s Community Clinic, Dr. Neavel established the Center for Adolescent Health over 30 years ago. The Center for Adolescent Health serves youth ages 10-24. CAH uses an interdisciplinary, team-based approach to provide comprehensive, specialized, best-practice care that incorporates wellness, reproductive, and mental health. CAH has Gold Certification as a Youth-Friendly Clinic. A Youth Advisory Council contributes to the CAH mission.

The GOALS program, which involves PCC’s Pediatric, Adolescent, and Integrated Behavioral Health Departments, provides evaluation, ongoing treatment, and referral as needed for youth ages 4-21 with learning and neurodevelopmental differences that interfere with school success within the context of a medical home. Dr. Neavel also directs the Manor Mustang Health Center, a school-based clinic.

Dr. Neavel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Plan II Honors at the University of Texas at Austin and a medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She pursued a Psychiatry Internship, Family Medicine Residency, and Adolescent and Developmental Disorders Fellowships at the University of Cincinnati. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Adolescent Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine. Dr. Neavel is recognized as an Austin Monthly Top Doctor in Adolescent Medicine and a Texas Monthly Super Doctor. The Texas Academy of Family Physicians awarded her Family Physician of the Year 2025. She remains involved in organized medicine through the Travis County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association.

Mentoring and teaching other health care providers have been part of the Center for Adolescent Health and the GOALS program since their founding. As a result, clinics frequently include health professional trainees. Families and patients sharing their stories and participating in teaching are appreciated.

Dr. Neavel’s other academic endeavors include representing Family Medicine in the American Board of Pediatrics Adolescent Medicine Subboard, research collaboration, presentations, and writing. CAH sponsors an annual Adolescent Health Symposium for the community.
