Special Programs
Austin Children’s Shelter
PCC and its Center for Adolescent Health (CAH) provide high quality medical care to infants through 17 year olds who are placed at the Austin Children’s Shelter (ACS) due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Services occur twice a week at the newly developed ACS campus, and at the main PCC site as needed.
Center for Adolescent Health
The Center for Adolescent Health provides affordable, specialized, interdisciplinary healthcare for teens and young adults ages 11-23 in Central Texas. Through comprehensive medical, behavioral, and preventive services and partnerships with other community organizations, we emphasize helping teens and their families navigate the transition to adulthood in a positive way.
Chronic Disease Management Program
The Chronic Disease Management Program’s goal is to improve the healthcare outcomes of patients with chronic conditions through disease registry maintenance and clinic-based interventions.
GOALS Program
The Goals Program is a developmental, behavioral and primary care program that promotes optimal developmental functioning, wellness and success for youth ages 4-23. Diagnostic evaluation and treatment services are included as an essential part of overall physical and mental health.
Health Education Department
The Health Education Department offers individual and group educational sessions on family planning, prenatal, chronic disease and adolescent health topics. Health educators seek to motivate and assist patients to maintain and improve their health, enabling them to develop the skills and attitudes necessary for health-related problem solving and informed decision-making. Health educators may also teach patients about medical procedures, operations, services and medications or offer educational presentations to community and school organizations.
Immunizations Program
The Immunizations Program at PCC provides vaccines to patients as part our efforts to provide cost-effective healthcare through preventive measures. The majority of immunizations are given to children 1-6 years of age. The program also provides routine immunizations to uninsured and underinsured walk-in patients.
Integrated Behavioral Health Program
The mission of the Integrated Behavioral Health Program (IBH) is two-fold: to provide effective, evidenced-based behavioral health services to patients with mental health issues and to increase the skill and comfort level of primary care providers in addressing mental health concerns.
Laboratory Services
Our on-site laboratory works with our providers to provide accurate, cost-effective results for patients. The immediate tests and lab technologist support available through our laboratory aid allow PCC’s providers to diagnose and treat patients quickly, and with greater convenience for patients.
Lifeworks Street Outreach Clinic
The LifeWorks Street Outreach Program (LWSOP) clinic provides weekly medical care and health outreach for homeless, street dependent, at-risk or runaway youth ages 16-23. The Clinic is a collaboration with the Lifeworks Street Outreach Program.
Nutrition Education and Health Psychology
The Nutrition Education and Health Psychology Program at People's Community Clinic is dedicated to working intensively with patients as they develop the confidence to make long-lasting lifestyle changes that will improve their health.
Pharmacy Services
People’s Community Clinic maintains an on-site Pharmacy to allow patients to make the Clinic a “one-stop shop” for their medical needs. The Clinic recognizes the transportation and timing challenges that face our patients, and the difficulties of finding low-cost medication elsewhere. The Pharmacy at PCC provides patients with low-cost medications on a sliding-scale basis. Find hours or refill information.
Phoenix House
People’s Community Clinic provides comprehensive medical care for adolescents enrolled in the Phoenix House residential drug rehabilitation program.
Reach Out and Read Program
Up to one-third of American children enter kindergarten lacking at least some of the skills needed for a successful learning experience. Being read to is the best medicine for a child's cognitive and language development, providing comfort for both children and their parents and paving the way for success in school. The primary goal of the Reach Out and Read Program is to enrich the parent-provider-patient relationship and increase reading time in the home by providing parents with both guidance and children’s books.
RGK Center for Adolescent Health at American YouthWorks
The American YouthWorks downtown location closed as of September 1, 2009. We are still providing services to our former patients and new patients between 16-19 years old.
Tandem Teen Prenatal and Parenting Program
The Tandem Teen Prenatal & Parenting Program is an interagency collaboration, led by People's Community Clinic, designed to provide medical, mental health, educational/vocational, and social support to low-income young parents and their children. The Tandem program seeks to promote the health and well-being of participating young families and to reduce their risk of subsequent unplanned pregnancies.
