Can I come without an appointment? Are you a walk-in Clinic?
We are not a walk-in Clinic. We do not see patients without an appointment. You must call first. To see if we are accepting new patients or make an appointment, call 512-478-4939 (Option 3, Option 1).
Are you an emergency or urgent care clinic?
No. We are a primary healthcare provider (a doctor's office). If this is an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
How can I or another family member become a patient at the clinic?
Everyone who would like an appointment at People's Community Clinic must call our appointment line first to see if we are accepting new patients. Availability varies from month to month in our departments. Unfortunately, we are not always accepting new patients. If we accept you as a new patient, a patient service representative will help you with what you need to do next.
Do I or another family member qualify to be a patient at the clinic?
Our Clinic accepts patients without any health insurance or who are covered by one of the government healthcare programs including Medicare, Medicaid/Amerigroup/Superior or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). If you are accepted as a new patient and qualify for one of these government programs or other healthcare assistance programs, we will help you enroll. We do not accept patients with any type of private or employer-sponsored healthcare plan.
How do I make an appointment? What happens after I make an appointment?
To make an appointment, call 512-478-4939 (Option 3, then Option 1). Our patient service representatives can help you with determining whether we are accepting new patients and can assist you with appointment dates and times. We do not make appointments via email or online.
After you have an appointment, a financial counselor will call you. The counselor will screen you to determine your sliding scale payment and to determine if you qualify for any healthcare program assistance. The screening is based on your household income and the size of your household.
If you do not speak to a financial counselor by telephone before your appointment, please arrive 30 minutes early to your appointment. This will allow you time to meet with a FC and be screened and still be checked-in on time for your appointment.
How soon can I be seen?
Our patient service representatives can help you with determining whether we are accepting new patients and appointment dates and times.
What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
We require our patients to bring in an ID, proof of address, medical insurance (if any) and proof of income to their first appointment. The4 following is a short list, please refer to the Financial Screening Information to get more information about what types of identification and proof we accept. All the information we require helps us keep your patient records private, determine how much your appointment will cost on our sliding scale, and know whether or not you qualify for any of our medical assistance programs.
- Photo ID with your name on it.
- Medical insurance information, if you have any (Medicaid/Amerigroup/Superior, Medicare, CHIP)
- Proof of address so we know what county you live in
- Recent proof of income for the last 30 days or unemployment/homeless information
If you would like to, you can print and fill out some of our initial patient forms before you come. Click on the link to go to the forms.
How much will I have to pay at my appointment?
We are not a free clinic. You will be asked to make a payment at the time of your visit if you are able.
Patients receive a sliding-scale discount on medical services. Your discount rate will be determined by your proof of income. We ask that our patients update their proof of income once each year to make sure you receive the best discount we can give you. The sliding scale for an office visit begins at $25.00 plus costs for lab work and medication. Our financial counselors can help you determine the costs for your situation.
What if I can't make it to my appointment?
If you cannot make your appointment, please call to cancel 24 hours in advance. If you miss 3 appointments within twelve months you will no longer be a patient at People's Community Clinic.
Can I bring my children or other family members with me?
Please do not bring children, spouse or other family members with you unless the appointment is for them or it is necessary. We have very limited parking, waiting room space and exam space. Do not leave children unattended. All children must be watched by an adult at all times. If you will be in a medical appointment and unable to watch the children that you bring, please do not bring them.
