People’s Community Clinic Raises $208,000 at Annual Luncheon

Clinic Honors Center for Public Policy Priorities with W. Neal Kocurek Award

“I am delighted and touched by the generous gifts our supporters have given the Clinic especially during these tough economic times,” said Regina Rogoff, Chief Executive Officer of People’s Community Clinic. “We know that folks all over Central Texas have been impacted by the economy and we are incredibly grateful that people continue to support the Clinic with their philanthropic dollars.”

In addition, the Clinic presented the annual W. Neal Kocurek Award for Healthcare Advocacy to the Center for Public Policy Priorities for its efforts at the legislative level to increase access to healthcare among low- and moderate-income Texans. Anne Dunkelberg, Associate Director of Center for Public Policy Priorities gave the keynote address, in which she advocated for statewide healthcare reform, specifically by increasing eligibility by extending the enrollment period for children’s Medicaid from 6 to 12 months and introducing a buy-in program for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

Major underwriters for the event included Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Door Number 3, The William and Salomé Scanlan Foundation of Austin & San Antonio and Wells Fargo. Texas Monthly was the media sponsor of this year’s event.

Nearly 60 percent of the Clinic’s funding each year comes from private support. People’s Community Clinic remains indebted to the individuals and foundations that continue to give generously to support its mission.
