Clinic and Mexic-Arte Museum Boards Host a Mixer
Health care and Arts Supporters Find Mutual Ground
Two longtime Austin cultural institutions, People's Community Clinic and Mexic-Arte Museum, hosted a Board Mixer happy hour on Tuesday, Nov. 27th at Mexic-Arte Museum. Members of both organizations' Boards of Directors gathered in the museum's exhibition gallery and enjoyed conversation amidst the museum's outstanding artwork, the "From Revolution to Renaissance" exhibition.
The event was initiated by John Hogg, M.D., a member of both Boards of Directors, and was intended as an opportunity for Board members to meet and learn about respective areas of interest. Health care and Mexican-American Arts programming are not two causes that typically inspire much overlap among supporters, yet Board members expressed mutual recognition of the significant positive impact both organizations have had on the Austin community. Indeed, Austin artists have traditionally been uninsured and many have benefited from healthcare provided by People's.
