2008 Luncheon Surpasses All Expectations
Luncheon Sets New Standard With $315,000 Raised

On May 12, 2008, a crowd of Central Texans gathered at the Renaissance Hotel in the Arboretum to learn about the mission and support the programs of the People's Community Clinic. The Luncheon featured accomplished and inspiring speakers this year, including Board President, Carl Stuart, who served as emcee.
Our keynote speaker was Dr. Eduardo Sanchez, Director of the Institute for Health Policy at The University of Texas School of Public Health and former health commissioner for the State of Texas. He spoke about the effectiveness of People's Community Clinic's model of care, which emphasizes comprehensive, preventive health care for the entire family throughout the life span.
Luncheon guests also enjoyed the debut of the clinic's brand new promotional video, featuring touching testimonials from patients, staff and community leaders about the many ways People's Community Clinic benefits individuals and the Austin community at large.
2008 W. Neal Kocurek Award
People's Community Clinic honors the memory of one of its strongest advocates and partners, the late W. Neal Kocurek, Ph.D. by choosing each year to honor exceptional members of the Austin health care community with the W. Neal Kocurek Award for Health Care Advocacy. In 2008, the Clinic presented the W. Neal Kocurek Award to two groups: to Austin Radiological Association in recognition of their long term supporting partnership with the clinic and to the clinic's volunteer providers, in recognition of their willingness to provide clinic patients with valuable on-site specialty care.
