Emilie Becker Cancer Screening Fund

PCC is raising awareness and support for colon and rectal cancer screening for our under—and underinsured patients as is recommended by the American Cancer Society. Please join our efforts by making a donation in honor of Dr. Emilie Becker today.

Dr. Emilie Becker is undergoing extensive treatment for rectal cancer discovered on routine screening colonoscopy just before her 50th birthday. She continues to work full time as Director for Behavioral Health at the Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin, while also raising two children. She is adamant that her only wish is that more people get appropriate colon and rectal cancer screening. You can support Dr. Becker's wish to increase access to colonoscopy today.

A collaboration between volunteers, doctors, pathologists, and the community, the Emilie Becker Cancer Screening Fund seeks to ensure that PCC's 10,000 patients have access to colon and rectal cancer screening. The Adult Medicine Department at PCC provides medical assessment, treatment and prevention services, annual exams laboratory tests, and medications. Access to specialty care is an ongoing challenge, however.

There are many times when PCC patients need diagnostic tests and have no where to go. Colonoscopy is a critical tool in early colon and rectal cancer detection, but it is beyond the reach of working families who have no insurance.
