Storytime Readers in the Waiting Room

People’s Community Clinic is recruiting Storytime volunteers to read to children in the PCC waiting room! If you love kids and enjoy performing or reading aloud, this is the place for you! The Storytime initiative is based on the success of our pilot program with the Austin Public Library featuring storytime in the clinic waiting room. This position requires a desire to be the center of attention, comfort with young children (ages 1-8) and a willingness to be theatrical in 30 minute spurts. Many of our young patients are Spanish speaking, so this is an excellent opportunity to practice Spanish language skills before an easy-to-please audience.

Requirements:

• Compliance with PCC’s Immunizations Requirements.
• Training session with the Austin Public Library, date and time TBA.
• Comfort reading in Spanish is a plus.

Availability:

• Mon-Thurs, 9am-noon, 1-5 pm and Friday, 9am-noon, 1-4 pm.
• NEW: Storytime volunteers needed on Saturday mornings from 8am-noon! We now do a large number of pediatric appointments on Saturday mornings, which makes this an excellent time to come lead storytime in the waiting room.
